The display on the car kept saying “connect device via USB”. The solution to the problem was to Reset the “App Connect” within the Reset Factory Settings menu. Hope this helps others

I like this app, it also works on my Apple Watch but as others have noted it is frustrating when it does not connect. Currently the Permissions part of the app is not working again. Its a pity they didn't combine the VW Connect app at the same time and keep all the information together.
The problem i am having is android auto is not working. I have tried 3 different cables and 3 different samsung phones but it just doesn't come on.
